Gospel Songs - deal Don't Fall In Love In Spain Why Can't She See? Come Down Heroes On Deaf Ears Changes What A Fool Cold Wind Steal Your Love Away Father Time Thinkin' 'Bout You Wonder What You're Doing? Burbank Blues Down around the corner lies a little ol' shanty town
Every Sunday morning we would go to hear those gospel songs

Preacher starts to preaching, choir begins to sing
The sound of a thousand angels gonna lead us in those gospel songs

Glory Hallelujah, 'Mazing Grace how sweet the sound
Jesus will be coming soon just to hear those gospel songs

Congregation's praying someone shouts amen
Younger folks start dancing 'round to the sound of gospel songs

Glory Hallelujah, revive us once again
'Mazing Grace how sweet the sound just to hear those gospel songs You can fly across the ocean there are many pretty places there
And people like you've never seen before.
You'll make friends before you know it, you might even fall in love,
But if you go to Spain be very careful there.

Spain I hear is lovely when the stars come out at night
And the pretty senoritas look so lovely in the moonlight
If she smiles and holds you close and says she wants to fall in love
Then you could have a problem 'cause in your mind you know.

That one day you'll pack up your things and fly back home to Tennessee,
Leaving all your newfound friends behind.
The handsome spanish brother and the sister you have come to love
Are standing at the airport smiling, trying not to cry

So if you fly across the ocean, you might just go north to Brittany
Where people walk around with their noses in the air.
They're still upset about the tea and they don't care for you and me.
The likely hood is greater there that you won't fall in love.

'Cause one day you'll pack up you things and fly back home to Tennessee,
Leaving all your unfound friends behind.
The British royal family will never ever come to see you off,
Besides the sister lives in New York anyway.

But Spain is a very different place. She'll welcome you with open arms,
And you will want to fall in love, and that would make things difficult
Should you return to Tennessee, so don't go and fall in love in Spain,
Don't go and fall in love in Spain, don't go and fall in love in Spain,
Don't go fall in love..................in Spain.
Look at her, look at him as he looks away at someone else.
Why can't she see, why can't she see, what is right before her eyes?

There is someone who's always there anytime she calls.
He's the one who holds her hand anytime she's alone.

Look at me, look at her as she looks away at someone else.
Why can't she see, why can't she see, what is right before her eyes?
Why can't she see, why can't she see, what is right before her eyes?
Moroni, Moroni come down from your temple.
You need to hang out w/some of your people.
Why don't you come down and play us a tune?
Moroni, Moroni come down.

Jesus, O Jesus come down from your cross.
I know it's your mission, but people are lost.
I'll bring the water, you make the wine.
Jesus, O Jesus come down.

Come down heroes, come walk among us.
Heroes are worthless if too far away.
Down on the corner we're waiting for you.
Come down heroes, come down.

Buddha, O Buddha what should I do?
All of your wisdom's just words for my eyes.
But I need a buddy, so Buddha you oughta,
Buddha, O Buddha come down.

Moses, O Moses do you suppose
We could all live without tablets of stone?
We oughta try it, it might be a riot.
Moses. O Moses come down.

Rich man, O Rich man do you remember
back to the days you had nothing to share?
Now up in you mansion with money to burn,
Rich man, Rich man come down.
You may never hear the words I really want to say
But all you have to do is look to see them anyway
Take a look into my eyes and see what you can see inside my heart

If you dare to journey there just take a look around
There are special places there just waiting to be found
Anything you find is yours just handle it with care
You may look and touch and take if you find comfort there

So if you ever look inside and like the things you see
Please make sure and take some time to explain it all to me
'Cause I will never say the words to you if I believe you will not hear
'Cause I will never say the words to you if I believe you will not hear
Got a friend down in the Golden State.
Much, much too far away to date.
Guess I'll just have to sit around and wait.
Got those can't get down to Burbank blues.
The bus is loaded and ready to go.
I've got my maps out and my minds made up.
I'd leave this minute, but I'm all tied up
with these can't get down to Burbank blues.

Burbank is not a very far away place in the middle of that L.A. rat race
I've got a friend there with the prettiest face
and she's giving me these Burbank blues.

Guess I'll just have to try to find a way to go
so I can see her face and let her know
How much I miss her and her million dollar smile.
Got these can't get down to Burbank blues.

Guess I'll just have to try to find a way to go
so I can see her face and let her know
How much I miss her & her million dollar smile.
Got these can't get down to Burbank blues.
Got these can't get down to Burbank blues.
Oh won't you take away these I can't get to Burbank blues.
Long time lovers, long time friends,
too much history to start it all again,
Time to call it off, time to call a truce,
time to start all over baby, maybe without you
'Cause we're changin'. We're changin'.

No guarantees, things always change,
to much work to try and rearrange,
The way things are to what they used to be,
we are who we are no matter who we want to be
And we're changin'. We're changin'.

Worked with him for twenty years, always called him friend
We were quite the duo right up till the very end.
But changes in priorities, and changing points of view,
Led us both down different paths, now we know what to do
'Cause we're changin'. We're changin'.

Change is unavoidable. Change is part of life.
Change could take your best friend,
Change might even take your life,
Change won't be resisted, she will leave you far behind,
Sitting by yourself as you make your peace of mind...
with your changes, your changes,
What a fool am I to have trusted you,
to have given you so much of my heart.
You just walked away and left me standing here
broken and falling apart.
I loved you like no other and I never treated you unkind.
Now I'm standing here with my broken heart
trying to get you out of my mind.

Just an innocent romance between a couple of friends,
both of us just looking for love.
I'd been this way before so I just opened up the door
and together we rushed right on in.
We needed more time be get familiar,
should have listened and waited to know.
Now our friendship is changing and I'm rearranging
my life as I'm watching you go.

But I would do it again in a heartbeat, '
cause the memory of love is so fine
I'm alive when I'm in love and I am never giving up.
I'll live to love one more time.

What a fool I would be to never open my heart
and take a chance of loosing it all
Even if you walk away I'll learn to love another day, '
cause time always heals broken hearts.
Still I loved you like no other
and I never treated you unkind.
But now you're going back to him
and I must learn to love again,
When I get you out of my mind.
If I ever get you out of my mind.
A cold wind blows just north of here ,cut's me to the bone.
Reminds me of someone I know, they share a heart of stone.
The wind can't blow forever, spring is bound to come.
The ground'll thaw and flowers'll bloom in the warmth of newfound love.

The water's at an all time high, a flood is on the brink.
In my heart's a levee and in my mind I think
To take myself to higher ground and pray for no more rain.
Soon the waters will subside and I can love again.

The weather in our life is unpredictable at best
Take hold of the good things and let go all the rest...

The temperature is rising, the sun is climbing high.
The clouds are gone, the sky is clear and the desert air is still.
I'm in a lonely, lovely place, that I'm prepared to share.
In my desert evening, I will wait to see you here.

Another year and winter's come and I am cold again.
But not as cold as last year, because I have a hand
To hold and share my fire, someone I call my friend .
Standing here beside me, I believe in love again.
I'd like to steal your love away, I'd like to steal your love away
The way I feel when I see you makes me want to break into your heart
And steal your love away

I saw you walking down the street, I saw you walking down the street
I violated my parole just to see where you might go
I saw you walking down the street

First time I looked into your eyes, first time I looked into your eyes
Like the vault down at the bank I did not have a key
First time I looked into your eyes

If you'd just hold me in your arms, if you'd just hold me in your arms
I know where I would serve my time. You can be my warden anytime
If you'd just hold me in your arms
Most of my life Time has been a stranger,
I've been going 'bout my business alone.
I've had plenty to do and I've done without you,
Now after all these years what are you doing here?

Father Time you never cared for me. Why must you start today?
It's not a good day for us to get together, so Father Time please go away.
I'm not home. Why don't you leave me a message,
Then move on while I take care of business.
Life's been fine without you messing with it, so please leave me alone...

Father Time I don't remember you, you were the father I never knew.
Maybe I'm not even related to you, but maybe some other time.
I've got places to go and people to meet,
I don't need you coming 'round bothering me.
After all these years, what are you doing here knocking at my door?

I've got places to go and people to meet, I don't need you coming 'round bothering me.
After all these years, what are you doing here knocking at my door?

I don't need you messing 'round with me.
Go away, move on down the road,
And leave me alone...
Four o'clock in the morning, a little bit of frost outside,
Sitting on the porch downstairs in the cold.
Lit another cigarette just to pass the time away
Now I'm thinkin' 'bout you, I'm thinkin' 'bout you.

The telephone rang a few days ago and just for a minute
I thought it might be you
I could hear your voice using my imagination,
Now I'm thinkin' 'bout you, I'm thinkin' 'bout you.

(Chorus)
You're always running through my mind,
Wish you were running into my arms,
So I could hold you close and feel your heartbeat
As I'm thinkin' 'bout you, as I'm thinkin' 'bout you.

Driving down the road, looking all around me,
looking at the mountains, singing in the sun.
Next thing I know tears are running down my face,
'cause I thinkin' 'bout you,
I'm thinkin' 'bout you.

(Repeat Chorus)

I'm thinkin' 'bout you, I'm thinkin' 'bout you...
That old furnace in the basement's
Set just a little bit too low.
The flowers in the front yard are covered up with snow.
Winter is now upon me and I'm a little bit cold
And I wonder what you're doing, but I think I'll never know.

A friend told me you were in Michigan.
Don't really see how that could be.
I thought you'd found a new way through the neighborhood,
Without ever running into me.
Heard you'd found a new job in the city,
that was always your big dream.
And I wonder what you're really doing,
and if you ever think of me.

The sun is shining through the treetops now.
See the snow drops coming down.
Things already look so much better now,
even though you're not around.
But sometimes when that winter breeze is blowing,
I want to snuggle up in bed.
Sometimes I wish that you we're lying next to me
Instead of running through my head.

And I wonder what you're doing, but I think I'll never know... CREDITs

Foundational Inspiration...
In 1994 I embarked on what has become a long, sometimes arduous journey. The last words my daughter spoke to me as I left were: "Dad, you should have been a musician and you're still young enough to be famous."
Along my way, I encountered many people who play a role in this part of my life: Eric & Mary Jaacks, Scott Stover, Big Ken, Eric Steffenson, Alvaro & Patricia, Megan, Collette, the unofficial acoustic co-op: Stacy, Glade, Gina, and others.
I will never be able to adequately express the importance of Barry Carter's support, encouragement, and contribution to this project. In many ways this is as much his as mine. May the lessons we both learned together serve us well.
Were it not for my daughter's vote of confidence and the support and inspiration of these many friends, I may have never started writing again and this CD would never have been recorded.
